Methodology

This list is based on analysis of Pearson Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics 4MA1 past papers (2019–2025), examiner reports, mark schemes and specification. Topics are ranked by frequency and mark allocation.

Top 10 most frequently tested topics

1. Algebra (manipulation, equations)

Evidence: Algebra appears in almost every paper. Examiner reports note working and manipulation errors.

Covers: expanding; factorising; linear and quadratic equations; simultaneous equations.

2. Number (percentages, ratios, standard form)
