IGCSE Certificates and Transcripts: What Universities Need
IGCSE Certificates and Transcripts: What You Need to Know
After your results are released, you can get a certificate (and sometimes a transcript) to prove your IGCSE grades to universities and employers.
Certificate (Statement of Results / Certificate)
- Certificate is the formal document that lists your subjects and grades (e.g. A*, A, B) for the session you cashed in.
- It is issued by Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel via your exam centre.
- Universities and employers usually ask for the certificate (or a certified copy) as proof of IGCSE.
Transcript
- A transcript is a detailed record of your results (often including component marks if the board provides them).
- Not all centres or boards use the word “transcript”; sometimes it’s just the certificate or statement of results.
- If a university asks for a “transcript,” they often mean the official certificate or statement of results—check their admissions page or ask.
For University Applications
- Most universities accept the official IGCSE certificate (Cambridge or Edexcel).
- You may need to upload a scan or send a certified copy; some use verification services.
- Keep original certificates safe and use copies for applications.
